The Destructor Form is delicious!

From the moment we saw that giant, smiling Destroyer of Worlds, our sweet tooth called out for revenge. Revenge for the bits of New York crushed. Revenge for the . . . ok, so not really revenge – we just wanted marshmallows. And even Walter Peck being covered in blobs of melted mallow man weren’t enough to crack our craving. It’s taken over 25 years, but we finally have the stuff that childhood dreams are made of: Stay Puft Caffeinated Gourmet Marshmallows!

Two major things to note about these sugary mallows of awake-ti-tude: First, they are gourmet. Delicate and delicious. Second, they are licensed collectibles, which for a marshmallow is pretty awesome. Third, Stay Puft Caffeinated Gourmet Marshmallows come in a marshmallowy-feeling box – a nice reusable keepsake. And finally, fourth: Stay Puft Caffeinated Gourmet Marshmallows are CAFFEINATED! Big time. You feel it as soon as you suck one down. Take that giant marshmallow man; we’re eating your eggs one by one. So get some Stay Puft Caffeinated Gourmet Marshmallows now, relive the 80s, stay awake forever, and satiate the need for sugary revenge.

The Heavy – The house that dirt built

Pete introduced me to these guys, think 50% Zutons, 25% James Brown, 20% BRMC, 5% Amy Winehouse.

Stornoway – Beachcombers Windowsill

Riding on the current nu-folk revival, very pleasant music for a relaxed afternoon – see http://tinyurl.com/34tkmq8

Beach House – Teen Dream

Been around for a while, the third album is quite sublime, band hails from Baltimore

produced by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Grizzly Bear)

Four Tet – There is love in you (aka Kieran Hebden)

Not my normal style of music (electronic) but hugely inventive, he’s been around for a while but I have really only started listening to him recently, reminds me of Lamb (the band not the meat) real fusion of sounds.

Other mentions

Band of Horses – Infinite Arms

LCD Soundsystem – This is Happening

and of course Arcade Fire – The Suburbs

I’m often being asked what I am listening to so periodically I’m going share on these pages a few details into my music tastes and whats floating my boat. I’m not going to get into reviewing every album but I might make a few comments…. if anyone is even interested?

I still find it hard not to buy Cd’s, something about owning a physical item rather than a virtual mp3 file somewhere in the zeros and ones of the computer/ipod. I spend most of my days on Spotify or listening to 6music

This months Cd’s are

Midlake – Courage of Others (if you like these guys check out the previous album which I think I prefer, The Trials of Van Occupanther)

Hot Chip – One Life Stand

Vampire Weekend – Contra (you can hear a lot of Paul Simon’s Graceland in here)

Delphic – Acolyte (fantastic album!!!)

Friendly Fires (local band that have produced a great first album… will be doing the festival circuit this year)
